scrap sheet

  • In this exercise my teacher demonstrated the different strategies that were needed in order to complete this project
  • We learned how to use type text and create outlines, ungroup shapes, choose different fonts and Add shapes together
  • In the second part of the tutorial we learned how to subtract shapes from a background and make them different colors
  • Lastly, i learned how to substitute pictures from the internet for various letters

  • The hardest part of the exercise was figuring out clever logo designs for the various words
  • The easiest part was making various words into stack text designs

This exercise was really useful in order for me to continue on to making my logo design.

i would rank myself a 9 on the exercise

8-12 tutorial

  • in this tutorial we learned how to use the pen tool as well as to add shapes together, divide shapes and groups them.
  • In order to do so, you must first create a desired shapes and then select them all and go to pathfinder
  • Next you must select the Add button and then click expand

  • www.verctordiary.com was used to do this tutorial

  • The hardest part of this tutorial was filling in compact shapes different colors. but once i learned that all that needed to be done was go to object, live paint and then press release; the rest was easy.
  • The easiest part of the tutorial was adding different shapes together. all that needed to be done was overlap different shapes then select them and go to pathfinder and press Add.

In effect, this tutorial i found was quite useful. i was able to make different shapes into one.

Spaceship project

In this project/ tutorial we learned how to create a space ship using simplistic shapes and the cut out tool. By layering i was able to replicate the spaceship as shown. once the basic shape was completed i made my way to filling in the rocket ship with color and then adding a cast shadow to the body and fin of the ship.
we learned how to use.....

  • the simple shape tool
  • cut out tool
  • pathfinder
  • color gradient
  • and layer masking tool
i found this tutorial challenging to do considering that i am not handy with computers and am more of a visual learner. i needed lots of help to understand what the steps were telling me to do.

Illustrator in 30 days

In order to create this tutorial i went to vectordiary.com in order to achieve this final product. The process demonstrated how to upload a template to illustrator and use the pen and pencil tools to replicate each design.

  • learned how to use the simple shape tools such as the circle, rectangle, stars and other simple shapes.
  • Pen, pencil and pen anchor tools
  • Color fill in tool
The tutorial was pretty easy to understand in regards to the pencil and simple shape tools. once i made my way to the pen tool and anchor point tool it became challenging to understand for someone like me who is a visual learner. Once i got the hang of how to use this tool it became fairly easy to use.

Pre-logo design

Always draw your logo designs in black and white first with paper and pencil. This allows for simple corrections to be made. Once you are satisfied with your design go to sites such as adobe illustrator or photoshop to do the final product with color

Common logo mistakes

using fonts that are “everywhere” else
- colors don’t fit at all together
- the logo is too busy (too much detail, color and so on)
- it has no personality
- it looks too much like another logo

Logo Design Guidelines

A logo is a graphic mark/emblem used to promote your company or brand towards the public. It can be a symbol only, a symbol combined with text or text written in a certain way (font, color etc). This leaves you with an extreme amount of creative freedom. It should stick in the minds of people.

Logo Design Guidelines

Basic Building Blocks describes the primary gist of what a good logo design entails. A good logo design consists of basic geometric shapes such as circles lines and squares.

Logo Design 1

LogoDesignsource.com is a great website to help a beginner learn how to create an attractive logo. The key to to an effective logo design is simplicity and versatility. Does your logo look attractive when reduced in size; expanded?

i like drawing

my art specializes in realism. I enjoy drawing pictures not only of my fiends and family but of famous people as well. Some of my former drawings have included pictures of Angelina Jolie, Taylor Lautner, Malcolm X and Ryan Scheckler.
